DAY 1
Whether you fly in to Aberdeen or Inverness airport, or live locally, you will be picked up by your personal Chauffeur in an Executive Vehicle and transported to Johnstons of Elgin for an immersive experience at their mill where you can witness first hand the techniques that the skilled crafts people have passed down through generations to make luxurious Cashmere and Merino Wool products.
After exploring the behind the scenes of the working mill there will then be time for some retail therapy within the store, followed by lunch in the onsite ‘Weavers’ restaurant which has a 5 star Visit Scotland rating.
Your Chauffeur will then take you to the Benromach distillery where you will take part in the Exploration Tour and learn how the distillery has revived and imagined the lost taste of Speyside through their range of award winning whiskies.
Delve into how the traditional processes and skill of the distillers are used to create not only the distilleries subtly smoky Speyside single malt whisky but also the contrasting variations of the spirit which has been matured in different and interesting ways. The tour concludes in the tasting room to experience whiskies from the ever evolving Contrast range. (Tour lasts 1.5 hours)
Following your Benromach experience your Chauffeur will take you to your Five Star luxury accommodation on the banks of the River Ness. With its gated entrance and peaceful ambience, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re in the Scottish countryside, when in fact you are right in the heart of the vibrant city of Inverness.
On arrival you will be greeted with a welcoming glass of champagne which can be enjoyed alongside a roaring fire while you are checked in and your luggage is taken to your room.
All the rooms are intricately designed and offer the highest level of comfort ensuring a lovely nights sleep after enjoying the delights of the on site or nearby restaurants and Scottish hospitality.
Dinner recommendations can be provided.
After your evening meal you have an option to walk back to the hotel along the delightful riverside walk, which is paved and well lit. You will get to see the Castle and various bridges lit up at night time which can only be described as magical.
If you still have the energy after a busy day, we would recommend visiting some of the nearby Pubs such as the Highlander, Macgregors or Hootenanny all of which have live Scottish music and are very lively.
DAY 2
After enjoying a hearty breakfast in the dining room overlooking the river Ness, you will be picked up by your Chauffeur and taken to Loch Ness where you will board a Jacobite Cruise along the Loch to the iconic Urquhart Castle.
Aside from being entertained, amazed and informed whilst looking for the illustrious Nessie, you also have the opportunity to explore Urquhart Castle’s ruins, which date from the 13th to the 16th centuries and experience its attractive visitor centre. Urquhart Castle is one of Scotland’s most popular tourist attractions.
After this boat tour and castle visit and hopefully having managed to get a photograph of Nessie, your Chauffeur will take you along the west banks of Loch Ness where there will be stops at Invermoriston and a short walk to the spectacular falls and summer house before heading onward to Fort Augustus where you will have the opportunity to see the five locks on this part of the Caledonian Canal which allows boats to climb from or descend in to Loch Ness as they journey across the breadth of Scotland from Fort William to Inverness. (The Great Glen)
The Lock Inn and Bothy are situated alongside the locks and are highly rated for lunch.
After lunch you will continue your journey around Loch Ness heading back to Inverness along the east side, where you will have a stop to meet the Nessie Hunter (Steve Feltham) who has been waiting patiently on the shores of Loch Ness since 1991 (yes you read that right 1991), all for one decent sighting of the Monster.
On arrival back at the hotel you will have ample opportunity to freshen up, have a nice aperitif in the bar before being picked up again and taken to your chosen restaurant.
After your evening meal, you can either enjoy a 10 minute walk back to the hotel along the banks of the river Ness or there is again an opportunity to enjoy the live music in the numerous pubs situated nearby.
The Uile Bheist distillery pub is situated on the banks of the river Ness opposite your hotel and has a fantastic selection of locally brewed artisan beers and a lively atmosphere.
DAY 3
After another good night’s sleep and scrumptious breakfast your Chauffeur will pick you up and take you to the Ness Islands, a collection of natural islands that sit in the middle of the River Ness, connected from the river banks by beautiful Victorian footbridges. You can walk from one end of the Islands to the other winding your way around the paths through imposing tall pines and mature trees. You will find carved bench sculptures to sit on, make sure to hunt down the fallen tree Nessie sculpture!!
After being picked up you will commence your journey back to Aberdeen, but your highland break is not over as you stop at Brodie Countryfare for some more retail therapy. This has been described as one of the most pleasant shopping experiences in the North of Scotland which offers designer fashion, luxury goods and quality food. There is also an excellent restaurant on site.
